i am in the middle of editing some sessions that i have done over the last few days... thus starts the busy time!! but i wanted to post this "crossover" blog about my race this weekend... so if you see me and i am hobbling around you will know why! (yesterday and today i have felt all of my 32 years and all of the 13 miles!)
i will be back to posting some more pictures very soon!
sunday was the battleship half! i did it!!! i was so proud that i was finished!
all in all it wasn't too bad. there were some killer hills (well, killer for the beach!! there is no where to train for hills here!). the first 2 weren't too bad, they were within the first 2 miles. they were big, but i still had the adrenaline from the start! the hardest part for me what the middle. mile 7, 8, and 9. i had run along ways... but still had a good bit to go. mentally they were the hardest. physically too. my knee was starting to hurt, it was just getting really tight. i took an advil at the half way point and it just hadn't kicked in yet. the last 4 miles weren't too bad... except for the giant on-ramp hill at mile 12. that was the worst. but after that, you can see the battleship and know you are in the home stretch! the only other bad part was the entrance road to the battleship. it seemed like the longest road ever! it just kept going and going and going! but then i spotted my family and knew i was almost there!! i made it in 2:08 (that is just from my watch... they haven't posted the official results yet). my goal was to make it in under 2 hours... which was a pretty lofty goal for my first half! i came pretty close :)
the official results... 2:08:16. i was 730 out of 1292!! not bad for my first half!
all in all it was a good race! i am ready to sign up for next year!

asheville 101
2 weekends ago, my husband and i went to asheville for his sister's wedding (i was not the wedding photographer). while we were there we stayed with my sister and her family. we got to go to the biltmore... which was amazing!the day of the wedding it POURED rain all day... until the minute we pulled up to the vineyard. the wedding was held at a beautiful vineyard on the TOP of a mountain. it made for beautiful pictures, but our van was not sure what to make of the incline! at the reception i got to grab a few of the details of the wedding :) it was fun practice for when i am ready to shoot my first wedding!!
my hubby and i at the biltmore
my sister and i on the biltmore land... it is huge!!

crossover- greensboro-cation
as promised... another crossover blog post. this is where i have been for the last few days :)
"my family (parents+sister) tries to do a family vacation every year. for years we have been camping (not my favorite!) but as our families have grown... we have out-grown camping. we have not yet been able to all agree on a vacation that accommodates us all. so until the time of an agreed upon vacation comes around... we decided to meet in greensboro and just do some day trips. a greenboro-cation if you will ;)
unfortunately the weather did not quite hear our plans and it was cool (75!) and drizzling for the first 3 days ;( but we made the best of it! we went to the greensboro children's museum, the natural science center, the asheboro zoo, a local (fun!) pool, and played in the yard. we even had a bonfire and roasted hot dogs for dinner :) all in all it was a successful trip! some great time with family!
and for those of you keeping track... i ran 6 miles with my sister (almost 1/2 of my final distance)!"
here come the pictures!!!
the next day we went to the zoo (still cool and rainy but we went anyway!) and had a bonfire!

yay for family time!
*** don't forget the mini-sessions saturday at the beach!!! a few spots left!!!***

"the girls and i have had a lot of sun lately, which was part of my reasoning for staying home today. a friend and her son came over this morning to play. then after nap we decided to paint. the girls LOVE to paint... they had a great time! unfortunately it doesn't use up a lot of energy. i am sure we will be going somewhere tomorrow!!"
